At the Eco Farm, your family will be able to experience life on a permaculture farm where we work towards self-sustainability. Not a fancy farm holiday but real experience of what it means to live on a permaculture farm. Children will experience the farm in a very playful way. You can simply participate with your family in our day to day routine or choose a more personalized package where we adjust the program to the ages of the children and your interests. There is also an option to spend time with the founder of the project who will give personalized training and consultancy. Now in case you want to have your hands free during these workshops we can organize activities with childcare during these workshops. Depending on your interests there are additional options possible like, hikes, campfire, bread baking workshops for kids, and a tour of the region. Our Basic Package is for families that want to join the day to day activities of the farm. On arrival someone will welcome you at the gate. Sometimes we will have a car available to drive you up hill to the centre of the farm but this depends on availability (ask for this when you book in case this is important for you). In case not you will start your experience with 1,5 km hike up hill. We will keep your bags safely down at the entrance and drive them up as soon as possible. A Highlight of the experience is the option to rent our Eco Lodge. A beautiful and very comfortable bioconstruction house in beautiful nature with incredible views over the farm. Once you have settled in there will be short welcome, a cup of coffee or tea and a explanation of the activities. Then you will be shown arround the farm. You will see different bioconstructions and agroforestry projects. At noon it will be lunch time where you will be able to serve your own plate with organic ingredients of our farm. After lunch you can join the agroforestry or bioconstruction work on the farm. This is the oportunity to have hands-on experience. There will be someone arround to orientate you. At the end of the day you will go to your accommodation and enjoy living in a bioconstruction house and the incredible views over the farm. This program is for families that want their children to join a ussual day at the farm. For a more personalized program and special activities for the children we recommend our personalized package or our premium package. We further recommend people to arrive on Sunday and leave on Saturday as you will find most dinamic happening from Monday – Friday, you will have Sunday to find your way to the farm and settle and Saturday to drive to your next destiny. Our Comfort Accommodation tiny house accommodation is for those people that enjoy total privacy and live in beautiful nature. The tiny house has a view over a beautiful lake. It is also great for people that need to work online. Internet connection in the tiny house is good. The tiny house is situated about 15 minutes walk from the farm. For people who come by car the tiny house is reachable by car. Only during very wett periods the dirt road becomes more of a challenge. The tiny house is situated on the edge of the farm, there is no pick-up service to get to the farm. so you will need to walk to and back from the farm which takes about 15 minutes. Another difficulty is getting into town there is no busstop nearby. So for people that come without car and want to go regulary in town this is a bit of challenge. We do collective shopping on mondays so you can hand in your shopping list. The walk has 2 little climbs but is much less of a walk then walking to the volunteer basic accommodation houses. The tiny house is equipped with a kitchen, bathroom, and a small living room.  The tiny houses like our volunteer houses are poorly insulated and in winter (Apr. – Sept.) It can get really cold at night. The Eco Lodge on the contrary is perfectly insulated and has a fire stove for comfort.  People are responsible for cleaning and cooking in the houses. The Tiny house option can receive max 2 people.

Our luxury Accommodation is a real highlight at the farm. This spectacular bioconstructed house is situated at the center of the farm. A real recommedation for people that want comfort no matter the climate, want total privacy with incredible views over the farm and the Atlantic Forrest. The Eco Lodge can easily house up to 8 people and if needed 10. It has 2 suits, a smaller bedroom a large kitchen, very large living room, a terras, a lavantory and a garage. The house also has a nice outdoor fireplace for bongfires. As the house is bioconstructed and has double glass it is very comfortable during the winter months. On very cold days you can light the fireplace. On hot summer days it is nice and cool. The house has a natural banana wastewater filter, solar warmed hot water and all electricy is generated through solar panels. Waste is separated and collected by the staff of Eco Caminhos. The challenge of the Eco Lodge is to get there by a normal car as the house is build on top of the mountains. It is necissary to have a 4×4 car. For those we do not have a 4×4 car we drive you up to the house on arrival and make sure we drive you down as well on departure.

Your Safety & health

We live in a very safe region in the mountain region around Friburgo. Now at the farm we have animals like cows, chicken and dogs. We also will be walking on trails through our agroforestry systems or will be doing some activities on our building sites.  So we recommend people to wear trousers (we do not recommend shorts or skirts), bring some gloves and a hat for the sun. In case of rain it is good to bring a raincoat. For some of the activities a reasonably good physical condition is required. Of course, we can adjust the program for people with physical limitations. Please inform us in advance if you have any limitations so we can make adjustments.

Busstation / Airport transfer

You can make your own way to the Eco Farm. For people who come by public transport we can pick people up from the Nova Friburgo bus station. We charge 200 reais for a pick-up and drop-off from the busstation. Now in case you need transport from Rio de Janeiro to Nova Friburgo, we organize your transfer (one way) for 900 reais for up to 4 people with our trusted driver.
