 1 Day Hands-on Eco Farm Experience

Eco Caminhos provides an amazing one-day immersion experience, where you can explore the bioconstructions, agroforestry projects, and engage in hands-on work on the farm. This is an ideal opportunity for those who lack time to stay longer and would like to experience a day on a permaculture farm that is working towards self-sustainability.

The Basic Package is designed for those who want to participate in the day-to-day activities of the farm. Upon arrival, you will be greeted at the gate by a friendly staff member. Depending on availability, there may be a car available to drive you up the hill to the center of the farm. If not, you will start your experience with a 1.5 km hike uphill. After a short welcome, you will be served a cup of coffee or tea and given an explanation of the activities. You will then be taken on a tour of the farm, where you can see different bioconstructions and agroforestry projects. At noon, you will be served a warm meal made with organic ingredients from the farm, with several plates to choose from. After lunch, you can join the agroforestry or bioconstruction work on the farm, which is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience. There will always be someone around to orient you.

You can book one A activity and one B activity from the acitivities list below. It is important to book before so we can plan your activity. On arrival someone will welcome you at the gate. Sometimes we will have a car available to drive you up hill to the centre of the farm but this depends on availability (ask for this when you book in case this is important for you). In case not you will start your experience with 1,5 km hike up hill.  Next there will be short welcome, a cup of coffee or tea and an explanation on the activities. Someone will do a tour of the farm so you can see the different bioconstructions and agroforestry projects. Next you will start your personalized activity A. At noon, you will be served a warm meal made with organic ingredients from the farm, with several plates to choose from. After lunch you can do an activity B or join the agroforestry or bioconstruction work on the farm. This is the oportunity to have hands-on experience. There will be always someone arround to orientate you.

B-Activity

• Milking a cow (this needs to be done 6 am so depends on your willigness to arrive early)
• Visit the waterfall
• 2 hour Hike

You can choose one A activity and one B activity from the acitivities list below. This needs to be booked before so we can plan the activity. On arrival someone will welcome you at the gate. Sometimes we will have a car available to drive you up hill to the centre of the farm but this depends on availability (ask for this when you book in case this is important for you). In case not you will start your experience with 1,5 km hike up hill.  Next there will be short welcome, a cup of coffee or tea and a explanation of the activities. After this Bart will attend you in person.  the founder can do a theoretical presentation in permaculture, agroforestry or bioconstruction or can do private consulting. If you like this can be followed by a tour of the farm where he shows you the different bioconstructions and agroforestry projects. Next you will start your personalized activity A. At noon, you will be served a warm meal made with organic ingredients from the farm, with several plates to choose from. After lunch, you can join the agroforestry or bioconstruction work on the farm (this is with the workers and not with Bart). This is the oportunity to have hands-on experience. You can also enjoy a guided hike or visit a local waterfall. There will be someone arround to orientate you.

Your Safety & health

We live in a very safe region in the mountain region around Friburgo. Now at the farm we have animals like cows, chicken and dogs. We also will be walking on trails through our agroforestry systems or will be doing some activities on our building sites.  So we recommend people to wear trousers (we do not recommend shorts or skirts), bring some gloves and a hat for the sun. In case of rain it is good to bring a raincoat. For some of the activities a reasonably good physical condition is required. Of course, we can adjust the program for people with physical limitations. Please inform us in advance if you have any limitations so we can make adjustments.

Busstation / Airport transfer

You can make your own way to the Eco Farm. For people who come by public transport we can pick people up from the Nova Friburgo bus station. We charge 200 reais for a pick-up and drop-off from the busstation. Now in case you need transport from Rio de Janeiro to Nova Friburgo, we organize your transfer (one way) for 900 reais for up to 4 people with our trusted driver.
