Artist: Mr Raw Nwanne
Born Ukeje Okechukwu Edward; to the Christian Family of Elder & Ezinne Michael Ukeje Ndukwe; the 3rd born and the 3rd son in a family of eight. But his foray into the entertainment terrain did not commence proper until his secondary school when he built up a small name as a performing artiste, seizing every opportunity to perform at every musical get-together.
His musical career took on a new and different dimension in Enugu sometime in 1992 when he started writing his own songs and formed a rap group known as THE 2 HYPE MCS (Raw & Smart) with his friend Smart MC. He later then gained admission to study business administration and management in the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT), Enugu.
Mr. Raw Nwanne’s (formally known as Dat NIG.G.A Raw) road to success started in March 2002 when he won the Eastern leg of Benson and Hedges “Grab the Mic” competition. Barely 3 months after in July 2002 at the Old Parade ground, Abuja. Mr. Raw was crowned the BEST UP COMING ARTISTE in Nigeria after a fierce rap battle with opponents from different states of the country. In September 2002, Mr. Raw and Klint di Drunk formed a group known as DE COMEDIANZ and participated in the 1st ever STAR QUEST organized by Nigerian Breweries PLC and came 2nd.
No artiste has won more accolades and talent contests in a short spell than Mr. Raw Nwanne who is so proud of his tribe which is the reason why he raps in Igbo Language and is also proud of being a TRUE SON of Abia State to a point that he practically shouts “ABIA” in all his songs for the world to hear Mr. Raw Nwanne has won many awards infact on the 28 of Nov 2010 at the 2010 N.M.V.A (Nigerian Music Video Award), his new video O CHUKWU won the BEST AFRO HIPHOP VIDEO AWARD and on 17th of Dec. 2010, Abia State honoured him in Umuahia ,the state capital.
