[World Premiere] Ian Jazzi Releases The Big Six - Dead Presidents (Exclusive Freestyle)
“The Big Six” is a cover of Jay-Z’s first single “Dead Presidents” off his debut album – Reasonable Doubt. It was produced by Ski beatz and originally featured Nas.
Over time the song has become a hiphop classic and many rappers have challenged themselves to prove worthy on the beat. One rapper who critically rhymed on this beat was J-Cole on both his come up and warm up mixtapes. J. Cole is Hov’s protégé by the way.
The latest of such rappers to add to the plethoric covers is Ghana’s multilingual Ian Jazzi “The Lyricist”
Earlier, Ian Jazzi dropped another cover called “Heart Of City” and now on the 1st of August “The Big Six” will be unleashed all in the build up to the upcoming mixtape album – In Stereo Vol 2, the sequel to his 2010 debut In Stereo Vol 1 which had amazing records like Ananse Sem ft. Raquel, Me Den Dem, Rising Sun, New Day, World of Fantasy among others.
Finally, OMG! Ghana caught up with the rapper to tell us exactly what “The Big Six” is entirely about and he had this to say…
I must admit I almost released the song prematurely on Black Tuesday (the day Prez Atta-Mills died) but I didn’t feel right about it later so I rescinded. Umm the song is slick, poetic, and streetwise and is delivered with that hustler mentality. The Big Six is an entrepreneurial typa flow. That flow which will take listeners on a journey from the humble beginnings to the big dreams and success stories. The flow is delivered with a mix of Ga, Twi, Pidgen and straight up English all weaved effortlessly with intricate wordplay and if you’re smart enough you’ll decipher a couple double even triple entendre’s. The Big Six is that typa song which will appeal to the old, the worker, the young, the student and to the world wide youth. The Big Six is not only for Ghana, it’s for Africa, it’s for the World.
