FRAGRANCE born Bridget Tsema Kayoh is a female singer from Nigeria. Born in the oil-rich Niger Delta, she is like a breathe of fresh air with her sonorous singing and seductive dance routines.
FRAGRANCE started out in the church choir as a lead vocalist in the adult choir at age ten of which you had to be sixteen years old to even be a member. such was her talent. Professionally however, 2006 would be the year when wide-eyed she came to Lagos and got signed to a record label under which she released her debut album SO LOVELY, an album that got her several nominations including Nigerian Music Awards for Best New Female AMEN AWARDS for Best Female vocalist and also Best New Artiste Female. Some of the Tracks in that album include the ballad LOVER N FRIEND ft Rockk steady and FREE, both of which went number one on radio stations including Rhythm 93.7, Glo Chart and a host of others. FRAGRANCE sophomore album has taken quite some time to follow, perhaps due to the fact that she is now independent and has taken her destiny in her young hands. However, the videos for WE BE ONE ft LKT and TOBAFEJO ft Brace are receiving good rotation by veejays especially Tobafejo which is a fusion of RnB and Fuji.
Speaking of her style she says "I am principally R&B. My LOVER AND FRIEND song in 2006/2007 is said to be one of the first solid R&B songs in Nigeria. Now I see the Banky W and Dare Art Alade getting pretty successful with it.(R&B) However, we all try to seek commercial success by infusing some of our local music including fuji and hilife so they know we are Nigerian. This is why you hear songs like WE BE ONE and TOBAFEJO from me. However in songs like SO IN LOVE, NOW AND FOREVER, YAHWEH, READY, you will see me as very international. So of my style, I will say I am versatile cos I still did a few reggae tunes in RAINDROPS ft Rymzo and CLUB TONIGHT. But still I am R&B."
Indeed the sophomore album NOW AND FOREVER is a fusion of various sounds with her sweet voice as a common denominator. With collaborations from 2face Idibia, Rymzo, Adol, Brace, LongJohns, SweetDee and productions Bayo Cean Joseph (Bjay Productions) Charles Duke, Kaka, Rymzo, Tony Ross, the album makes a sweet listen and is far from monotonous as is the case with most albums.
Fragrance who has performed on same stage as Junior Reid of the One Bllood fame is a tough act to follow on stage as she loves to dance. Her pretty mulatto looks doesn't hurt her act at all as she holds everyone spellbound with a great voice, nice song and lyrics, great dance steps all coming from a very pretty young likeable girl. Fragrance is in her early twenties and like her last Single available on all the Nigerian Music sites including Notjustok.com and Truspot, etc she is READY to take on the world.
